Vegas Baby!!

Kasey, Dani, Sheri, Serenity, & Ryder: Ryder & his cousin Serenity have been missing each other so we planned a rendezvous in Vegas! While this may seem like an odd place to take a 4 and 6 year old... Vegas is almost exactly half way between our Phoenix house and the Nish's Utah house. We found a realatively cheap hotel with plenty of family amenities. While the Orleans was not the most fabulous place I've ever been in Vegas, it worked out just fine for us. We spent 4 days just hanging out and letting the kids get in some quality cousin time.

Bowling:

Cheap breakfast in our hotel room: (Kids actually mixed Lucky Charms and Coco Puffs together.... gross!)

Week #17 - Baby BOY #2 Adventure

Bigger belly for sure over last week!

How far along? 17 weeks

Size of baby? A Turnip!, about 5", 5 ounces

Total Weight Gain? According to my last doc appt only 2 lbs... but I think I may be up 4 lbs now according to my home scale. Eek.

Maternity clothes? Yes! I need to buy more pants... I have nothing that fits!

Sleep? I am getting some insomnia now. Also getting a lot of body aches and pains that wake me sometimes. Not fun. I still feel pretty good most mornings. But I'm pretty worn out by the end of the day.

Best moment this week? Getting to see Ryder & Serenity together during our Vegas trip.

Food cravings? None really. Any bread or carb sounds good but no real cravings.

What I miss? Sound sleep.

What I'm looking forward to? The "big" ultrasound at the end of the month.

Milestones: FOR SURE I feel little baby boy bumping around in there a lot now. Pretty cool. Also we "may" have a name. Kasey is set on it and I'm working on falling in love with it too.

What's next?: June 30th - Ultrasound.

Emotions: Cranky. Tired. Getting Excited.

Symptoms: Shortness of breath. Wait. No breath! Yes, its that bad. Low blood sugar issues if I don't eat often and that makes me feel horrible.

From http://www.babycenter.com/: How your baby's growing:
Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — his lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and he's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. He can move his joints, and his sweat glands are starting to develop.

(This week's picture took many takes because a little booger kept jumping in the photo. Here is one funny attempt:)

Week #16 - Baby BOY #2 Adventure

How far along? 16 weeks

Size of baby? Avocado (yum), nearly 5" and around 4 ounces.

Total Weight Gain? So that 2 lb gain I blamed last week on S'mores is here to stay. Still up 2 lbs and confirmed by my doc this week.

Maternity clothes? Yes especially pants! Most maternity tops are too big so I'm wearing a lot of large flowy tops.

Sleep? LOTS of interrupted sleep but I still wake up pretty rested and can always fall back asleep easily so I can't complain.

Best moment this week? WE FOUND OUT IT'S A BOY!!!! Ryder is super excited because he really wanted a brother. And, I know for sure I can feel the baby now.

Food cravings? Nothing really this week except that fried food or fast food always sounds good unfortunately.

What I miss? Not having headaches all the freaking time.

What I'm looking forward to? This weekend we have a family vacation to Vegas. So excited to see Ryder's cousin Serenity. Also, hoping the road trip leads to some baby name discussions.

Milestones: Feeling the baby move for sure.

What's next?: June 30th - ultrasound for development (& confirm the sex, ha ha)

Emotions: Cranky. Tired.

Symptoms: Luckily almost none except for tiredness and crankiness and headaches.

From babycenter.com:
How your baby's growing:

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

Memorial Day Camping Trip, 2011

Memorial Day this year we decided on a kid-friendly camping trip to Hazlett Hollow Lake in the Horsethief Basin of the Arizona Bradshaw Mountains. Kasey, Ryder, and myself were joined by my cousin Kenny, his wife Dominique and their 5-year old son Matt. Their friends Stefani, Barry, 4 year old Cora, and 6 month old baby sister rounded out the group. Having three 4-5 year olds was a ton of fun as the the three quickly became friends and played well all weekend.

Kasey of course brought his canoe for fishing! Sadly they all kept getting away so no fish for our camp dinner. The kids enjoyed the canoe ride and swimming in the lake so it wasn't a lost cause.
The nearby tiny "living ghost town" of Crown King Arizona held a small Memorial Day Parade & Kids Carnival.
We took the kids to that and it was fun, but the drive back to camp was too much for Ryder to handle... who can sleep like this?!
Morning Routines!

Week 15 - Baby #2 Adventure

How far along? 15 weeks

Size of baby? Apple, about 4", 2.5 ounces

Total Weight Gain? After a 3 day camping trip, my scale finally showed a 2 lb gain. Probably all the S'mores the baby made me eat...

Maternity clothes? Yes some. Less and less real clothes fit anymore... or I have to wear baggy ones at least.

Sleep? Its pretty good. I wake up 3x time to pee... but have no problem sleeping in between those interruptions.

Best moment this week? Pretty sure I felt some flutters and pops that had to be the baby moving!

Food cravings? Mild cravings for Cheese and Orange Juice. And all carbs still sound the best!

What I miss? Not having headaches all the freaking time.

What I'm looking forward to? This saturday we find out the baby's sex!

Milestones: nothing really new this week

What's next?: June 4th - ultrasound to determine the baby's sex! June 30th - ultrasound for development (& confirm the sex, ha ha)

Emotions: Cranky. Tired. Hungry.

Symptoms: Luckily almost none except for tiredness and crankiness and headaches.

From babycenter.com:
How your baby's growing:
Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl! (Don't be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby's sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby's position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.")

Week 14 - Baby #2 Adventure

Well Folks, I assume its about time to jump back on the bloggy bandwagon now that the news of baby #2 is out in the world!

How far along? 14 weeks

Size of baby? Lemon, about 3", 1.5 ounces (Side note... I find it funny they are always comparing the baby to food.)

Total Weight Gain? NONE although you wouldn't know it by looking at me. I swear I look 10 lbs heavier.

Maternity clothes? Yes some. I'm in that weird "in between stage" where nothing I own fits and most maternity clothes are too big. I just try to stick to skirts and gaucho pants and anything NOT TIGHT. Wish I could work in my PJ's!

Sleep? Its pretty good. I wake up 3x time to pee... but have no problem sleeping in between those interruptions.

Best moment this week? None, this week was pretty crappy. I had a sore throat and cold.

Food cravings? None really. Any bread or carb sounds good but no real cravings.

What I miss? Feeling energetic enough to be social. Wine.

What I'm looking forward to? A real baby bump and not just a fatter tummy!

Milestones: 2nd Trimester!!! YAY!!!

What's next?: June 4th - ultrasound to determine the baby's sex!

Emotions: Cranky. Tired. Overwhelmed.

Symptoms: Luckily almost none except for tiredness and crankiness. Yesterday I was feeling really dizzy, light headed, etc. A new bra seems to be needed every week... okay slight exaggeration!

From babycenter.com:
How your baby's growing:
This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.
In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

Post-It Tuesday

As I find inspiration from a VERY dear ol' friend, I am committing myself to blogging more and updating my little world on my favorite little man and my minor life.
