Week #24 - Baby Boy #2 Adventure

Size of baby? Ear of Corn (from head to butt) which is about 11", about 1.5 pound.
Total Weight Gain? I'm getting nervous about this!! Doc will officially tell me on Monday but I'm thinking just over 10 lbs, eeek!

Maternity clothes? Yes.... but I need some more pants!

Sleep? Pretty good overall but I'm sleeping really light. The slightest noise wakes me up.

Best moment this week? Dual Baby Shower for me and a good friend.

Food cravings? SWEETS like cookies, brownies, etc.

What I miss? Feeling energetic enough to be social. Wine. (this really doesn't change ever!)

What I'm looking forward to? Ultrasound monday!

Milestones: 24 weeks!!! This means the baby actually has a chance of survival if born this early.

What's next?: August 8th: Having a high tech cardio-ultrasound on the baby's hear (yay for another peek at baby!) and my monthly OB appointment.

Emotions: Have started really planning things like a registry. Starting looking at nursery decoration ideas.

Symptoms: Achy body... severe sciatia nerve pain. Mild swelling in my feet.

From babycenter.com:
How your baby's growing:
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Week #23 - Baby Boy #2 Adventure

Size of baby? Large Mango (from head to butt which is about 11", over 1 pound.

Total Weight Gain? I'm getting nervous about this!! I go to the doc in a week and a half and I'm getting scared... I think I had a big jump this month.

Maternity clothes? Yes.... still need to shop!! But now that my belly is rounder I can wear tight shirts and look pregnant and not fat! So I'm able to wear some of my pre-pregnancy shirts and show off my bump now.

Sleep? Pretty good overall but I'm sleeping really light. The slightest noise wakes me up.

Best moment this week? Getting ready to go to San Diego in a couple days!

Food cravings? Actually got into an ice cream craving this week. I never want ice cream normally!

What I miss? Feeling energetic enough to be social. Wine. (this really doesn't change ever!)

What I'm looking forward to? Dual friend baby shower in 2 weeks.

Milestones: Almost to that magical 24 week mark...

Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With his sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that he's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see his squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when he hears them outside the womb.

Week #22 - Baby Boy #2 Adventure

How far along? 22 weeks

Size of baby? Spaghetti Squash, about 11", a 1 pounder!!! (big jump in weight over last week and officially 1 pound) Okay, so hopefully my baby's guts aren't spilling out like this photo, but it was the best one that also showed a hand to give you a size reference!:
Total Weight Gain? 8 pounds according to my last doctor appointment about 2.5 weeks ago. I think I may be up 10 pounds now. That is what my evil home scale says anyways. I can see my face is a little more fatter.

I **think** I'm ready to decide on Kasey's favorite name as the baby's name....

Food cravings? Buttery garlic bread, daily. Also I've helped myself to a few bowls of Multi Grain Cheerios as dessert late at night... this was a funny craving I also had with Ryder and seriously had a bowl of cereal almost every night!! Kasey still teases me about that... looks like this odd craving might be making a comeback!

What I miss? Feeling energetic enough to be social. Wine. (this really doesn't change ever!)

What I'm looking forward to? My mom, Ryder, and me have a vacation planned to San Diego next week! Dual friend baby shower in 2 weeks.

Milestones: Almost to that magical 24 week mark...

What's next?: August 8th: Having a high tech cardio-ultrasound on the baby's hear (yay for another peek at baby!) and my monthly OB appointment.

Emotions: Have started really planning things like a registry... even bought a bassinet (crib last week). Starting looking at nursery decoration ideas.

Symptoms: Achy body... severe sciatia nerve pain. Mild swelling in my feet.

From babycenter.com:
How your baby's growing:
At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Week #21 - Baby Boy #2 Adventure

How far along? 21 weeks

Size of baby? Length of a Carrot, about 10.5", 13 ounces (big jump in length over last week!)

Total Weight Gain? 8 pounds according to my last doctor appointment about 1.5 weeks ago. However I think I've lost a pound or two since that appointment. If you compare this week's belly pic with last week I don't think there is any change. I also noticed my home scale went down about 2 pounds.

Maternity clothes? Yes although, like a broken record, I still need to buy more!! I have 1 pair of jeans, 1 pair of kahkis', 1 dress pants and 1 jean skirt I have to rotate through every day! Most of them I don't even like.

Sleep? Its gotten better. My bladder is letting me sleep a little more solidly, so that is good! I need about 9 hours of sleep a night, minimum. But I can make it through an entire day without needing a nap, so that is good.

Best moment this week? I can really tell if baby boy is head down, head up, laying on his side, etc by where I'm feeling the kicks. Its kinda fun to envision what he is doing in there.

Food cravings? None really. Any bread or carb sounds good but no real cravings.

What I miss? Feeling energetic enough to be social. Wine.

What I'm looking forward to? My mom, Ryder, and me have a vacation planned to San Diego in two weeks. Looking forward to some beach and pool time!! And Sea World! Also, my friends and I are in the midst of planning a dual baby shower for me and a close friend Bethany whom is moving to Chicago in a couple weeks.

Milestones: Looking pregnant (in tight clothes). Still look fat in loose clothes. :)

What's next?: August 8th: Having a high tech cardio-ultrasound on the baby's hear (yay for another peek at baby!) and my monthly OB appointment.

Emotions: Ready to start buying/planning things...in fact we bought a crib this week! Overall lack of energy or desire to do much.

Symptoms: Achy body... severe sciatia nerve pain.

From babycenter.com:
How your baby's growing:
Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like he's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to his activity as you get to know him better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now.

Week #20 - Baby Boy #2 Adventure

How far along? 20 weeks (magical half way point)

Size of baby? A Banana from top of head to rump, about 6" from top of head to rump, 10.5 ounces
Total Weight Gain? 8 pounds officially (according to my doctor today). He said that was great and I'm doing awesome with weight gain but I feel like it is a lot!! I found a chart here that says I'm just above the "low" of end of 6 lbs at 20 weeks, the high end being 18 pounds. So I guess I'm doing ok?

Maternity clothes? Yes! Summer dresses are a life saver!

Sleep? Pretty decent. I can easily sleep 10-12 hours a night and not feel like I slept too much.

Best moment this week? Nothing too big this week.

Food cravings? Arby's Chicken Strips!!! Could I eat any worse?!

What I miss? Not having achy hips!!

What I'm looking forward to? Deciding on a name. This has been very hard.

Milestones: On the downhill slope now!

What's next?: A Special Cardio Ultrasound on the baby at 24 weeks since Ryder was born with two holes in his heart, they want to make sure its not genetic and help this baby if at all possible.

Emotions: Emotional!! Stressed!!

Symptoms: Lots of pain in my hips and right leg. Especially if I'm moving positions or sitting too long.

From http://www.babycenter.com/: How your baby's growing:

our baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)

He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Week #19 - Baby Boy #2 Adventure

How far along? 19 weeks

(Can't get Blogger to rotate my ultrasound photos. Oh well!)

Size of baby? A Mango from top of head to rump, about 6" from top of head to rump, 8.5 ounces
Total Weight Gain? According to my last doc appt only 2 lbs... but I think I may be up 6 lbs now according to my home scale. Eek. Also, I felt like my belly really popped this week... and no doubt, the baby gained an extra couple ounces more this week then the past few weeks.

Maternity clothes? Yes! Summer dresses are a life saver!

Sleep? MUCH better. Getting up to pee a lot less (which is awesome).

Best moment this week? ULTRASOUND!! See pictures. Little man was squirming away the whole time and even decided to grab onto his man-parts for while and hang out... yup, he is certainly a BOY!

Food cravings? Arby's Chicken Strips!!! Could I eat any worse?!

What I miss? Not having achy hips!!

What I'm looking forward to? Deciding on a name. This has been very hard.

Milestones: The half-way point ultrasound. And, if this baby comes as early as Ryder did, my pregnancy is half over already!

What's next?: Next week is the official "half way" point.

Emotions: Emotional!! Stressed!!

Symptoms: Lots of pain in my hips and right leg. Especially if I'm moving positions or sitting too long.

From http://www.babycenter.com/: How your baby's growing:

Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

Week #18 - Baby Boy #2 Adventure

How far along? 18 weeks... forgot to take a belly picture this week!! OOPS!

Size of baby? A Bell Pepper from top of head to rump, about 5.5" from top of head to rump, 7 ounces
Total Weight Gain? According to my last doc appt only 2 lbs... but I think I may be up 4 lbs now according to my home scale. Eek.

Maternity clothes? Yes! I need to buy more pants... I have nothing that fits!

Sleep? Insomnia slowing going away, thank God! Sleeping a little better.

Best moment this week? Knowing for sure I can feel tiny movements of this baby! So amazing. They can be easy to miss but if I'm laying down or sitting in a chair, I can't miss them.

Food cravings? None really. Any bread or carb sounds good but no real cravings.

What I miss? Sound sleep.

What I'm looking forward to? My ultrasound next week!

Milestones: ??

What's next?: June 30th - Ultrasound.

Emotions: Cranky. Tired. Getting Excited.

Symptoms: Lots of pain in my hips and right leg. Racing heart. Low blood sugar problems seem to be easing up.

From http://www.babycenter.com/: How your baby's growing:
Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.
